Trapped Emotions? C’mon, Man! Are you Pulling my Leg?

Trapped emotion and blocked Body Zones

A key understanding of the SoleHealing Wellness System is that an emotion that is not expressed means that energy or emotion becomes trapped in the body.

Whoa…whoa…whoa! 

How can energy be trapped in my body? How can emotion be trapped in my body? 

Let’s look at a scenario that you’ve probably had an experience with in your life. Can you remember a time of deep grief? Did you get a lump in your throat? If we rushed you over to the Emergency department at the hospital and took an x-ray, there would be no lump to see. You know though through experience that the knot in your throat was a real thing, you could feel it.

What happens with that lump in your throat, that knot of energy?

Now, the body wants to help that lump find its way out; that’s why the body sobs. The energy of that emotion is trying to propel that knot of energy, that emotion out of the body through the motion of sobbing, it’s the first choice, a gentle pumping action. If sobbing isn’t enough, at some point it may become anger, a forceful explosion of energetic motion to move the trapped energy out of the body. Do you allow it? 

You’ll feel better after you allow the expression of that energy, that emotion to move through. If the natural movement process is allowed, then feeling better in this case is not going to be joyful elation. Feeling better would be a natural cessation of the powerful emotive force of the grief into a place of calm or stillness.

The reality for most is that sudden grief is like treading water in the middle of the ocean, you’re doing whatever you can to maintain your sense of safety and survival. You don’t want some jerk yelling at you from the distant shoreline telling you how to swim a specific stroke so you can move; you want a damn lifeboat to pull you out of the water and help you feel better right now.

So what do you do?

In this scenario, you might allow the transformation of that emotional energy in the moment and release of the energetic knot through sobbing or an outburst of anger or you may push it down instead of out. If you do push it down, there it sits somewhere inside, needing to transform with no place to do it. If you can imagine the level of energetic motion to release the knot of energy through sobbing or anger; then you can also imagine how much energy is being used in an attempt to hold that knot of energy in place inside without release. Whatever happens in the moment is just fine, no problem; this is survival instinct. You do however, want the awareness that if you have an energetic of trapped emotion stuffed down, that there is a need to transform and release it.

That is our Work.

That is what we do with SoleHealing, we transform stuck emotion and blocked energy Body Zones through the tools of energetic expansion. Our work is in making the choices, towards fundamental health. Everything else takes care of itself. Our job is to continue to trend our choices towards our most expansive state in the moment.

It’s fun. We’re going to enjoy this ride together. It’s like no other wellness system you’ve ever experienced. Our only goal, feel better. Just keep feeling better and better.

ACTION: A Gentle Inventory

The lump in the throat was one example. If you think about the last day, the last week, the last month…how many times did you turn away from an emotional release? Hmmmm…how about in your life? I actually, don’t want you to put a number to that or think about it too hard. Don’t go digging into any of those experiences. I just want you to gently pull into your awareness that this has happened for you at some point. If you can acknowledge that it could be the case you’re half way there. Now what?

Now, this moment is the only thing that matters. How do you feel right now? Expanded or collapsed? From now on this is your pivot point. How you feel right here, right now is what matters. All you want to practice doing is reaching for a better feeling. No point explaining, rationalizing or reasoning why you should feel harshly about something. It brings you no relief. And how you feel is what matters. How you feel. What will you choose? You decide. The only way you are going to experience the truth of this is to try it for yourself. Just feel better, you know you want to.
